Give me Baltimore

Day 117 / mile 15,080

Heading up to Baltimore I was hoping to find the "12 O'Clock Boys", but really was there to visit a good friend I hadn't seen in a long time.

This photo would have been better with a rowdy crowd of wheelie-ing dirt bikes and quads.

Lindsay Weinert and I worked at High Cascade Snowboard Camp about a decade ago, more like playing up in the Oregon mountains where I was a coach and she a photographer. A couple years ago I unfortunately heard she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and like a the badass she is, has been kicking it's ass but still can use support: www.gofundme.com/lindsayweinert

When rolling into Baltimore I was excited to chill out, but she and her husband wanted to get out and have a good time, so they took me to the Roller Derby!

The Charm City Roller Girls flat track. We got there early for a good seat before the stands filled up.

A couple of the stars wanted a portrait with us, so we naturally obliged.

Even though it's a girls-only competition, Nick showed he has some moves of his own.

These girls aren't wimps, they smash each other for fun.

So much action, so much fun.

Linds is considering training for next season. She acts sweet, but is tough-as-nails.

The Kiss Cam found me.  I know, that babe has blue-collar hands.

The Peabody Library is insane. The interior is off limits to photography, for no reason that I could justify abiding to.

I could have spent an hour in here taking hundreds of photographs, the architectural design had me frothing.

Linda couldn't let me leave without a traditional Maryland meal, a huge bag of crabs and Natty Bo.

This one wasn't going down without a fight!

 ...but I won the battle.

It was good to catch up with Linds and Nick, but great to hear they're planning a cross country adventure of their own soon! They are restoring a Toyota Travelmaster and taking it to the West Coast, with their family of pets as well. ...almost makes me want to get a travel buddy for the remainder of my adventure. Nah, it's hard enough taking care of myself!
